Publication Design

Editorial layouts for reports, books, and printed materials.

Add to package

Publication design is the discipline of arranging text and image at length. A 200-page annual report is a different design problem from a 32-page product catalogue, which is different again from an editorial book. What they share is that they all require a grid system, a typographic hierarchy, and a logic that holds across every page.

Most graphic designers do not have deep experience with long-form publication work. The technical demands are different from a brand identity project or a single-page layout. We have designed publications from four pages to three hundred, and we understand the difference between a grid that looks elegant in a presentation and one that holds up under 80,000 words of real copy.

Technical precision

Publication work requires precision that shorter-form design does not. Consistent baseline grids, correct handling of running heads and folios, master page structure that survives content changes, optical margin alignment, correct hyphenation settings. These are unglamorous skills. They are what separates a publication that reads comfortably from one that makes the reader work.

From layout to print

We prepare all publication files for print production. Full bleed preparation, ICC colour profiles, correct PDF export settings, and a detailed brief for your print vendor. We have working relationships with print vendors in the region and can provide introductions and guidance on paper specifications, binding options, and production timelines on request.
